Listings are compiled from publicly available course information. Corrections are welcome: write to hello@golfcoursesfinder.com.

What is collected

The directory lists 14,197 courses in 8,012 cities. For each course it keeps only factual fields: name, street address, city, state and postal code, phone number, website, number of holes, par, total yardage, whether a driving range is on site, play access when a source states it (public, private, or semi-private), and map coordinates. It does not copy reviews, ratings, photographs or descriptions from other sites.

How the data is cleaned

Each import trims and standardises names and addresses, repairs rows where the city or state was entered in the wrong field, and builds a permanent web address for every course. A value that cannot be trusted is left blank rather than guessed, and the page then shows a dash. Coordinates that fall outside the listed state, or that are shared by several unrelated courses, are discarded. Play access is kept only when the source states that a course is public, private, or semi-private. A course described as municipal is recorded as public. Access is left blank when the source does not say, or when the wording conflicts.

Manual corrections

When a phone number, website or name is found to be wrong, it is fixed by hand and the source of the correction is recorded. Courses that have permanently closed are removed, and their old addresses redirect to the city page.

Derived figures

Counts, averages and rankings on state and city pages are calculated from the fields above and from nothing else. Distances to nearby courses and cities are straight-line miles between listed coordinates, not driving distance. See about this directory for how comparisons are made.

Every page uses the same course total (14,197): each open course counts once, and a row that exactly repeats another course is not counted again. State totals add up to that number, and city totals add up to their state's. The map and the near-me page show the 12,588 courses that have coordinates.

How current it is

Listing data was last updated October 2026. Courses open, close, change hands and re-measure, so confirm details with the course before you travel.
